Cascade Symphony Orchestra is partnering with the Edmonds Waterfront Center to present a new chamber music series, with its second concert this Spring. The performance will take place in the large room at the Waterfront Center overlooking beautiful Puget Sound. This concert features Northwestern Winds, a professional wind quintet whose members have performed with the Chicago, Seattle, Milwaukee and Oregon Symphonies, the Seattle, Santa Fe and Chicago Lyric Operas, the Pacific Northwest and Joffrey Ballets, and at the Spoleto, Carmel Bach and Bellingham Music Festivals.
They will perform music by Franz Danzi, Paul Taffanel and an arrangement of excerpts from Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème. The concert also features the Cascade Percussion Ensemble. Founded by Ian Alvarez in 1995, the Cascade Percussion Ensemble’s mission is to create a performing group designed to bring together the percussionists of the Cascade Symphony Orchestra with outstanding percussionists from the Cascade Youth Symphony and surrounding community. Its youth members have received scholarships to major university music programs and have become music teachers throughout the Northwest. The ensemble has performed on KING-FM, at university percussion ensemble events throughout Washington, and at chamber music events in South Snohomish County.
Tickets for each concert are $15 general admission and $5 for students of any age. Tickets are available in advance from the ECA box office or at the door one hour before the performance at the venue. Please note, this event takes place offsite at Edmonds Waterfront Center.
